Background
Artistic-focused programs for adolescents in San Marcos and nationwide are minimal to non-existent. This lack of access and participation in artistic activities is stunting our youth’s creative brain development which is a critical intelligence they will need in the future to be effective leaders, problem solvers and workers in our fast-paced, digital world. That’s why we developed Creative Collision, a Non-profit, Fine and Performing Arts event, for adolescents in San Marcos.
This event is being conducted as part of a senior thesis project for Texas State University. It is designed to enhance adolescents’ levels of human connection, collaboration, artistic career exploration, academic success and well-being. We believe art is a universal language and necessity in life. It provides an outlet for therapeutic, collaborative, and expressive communication.

Jazmine Beatty grew up deeply involved in all forms of art. Inspired by the coffee house at her Performing and Fine Arts High School, she decided to create a program that didn’t just bring artists together once a month, but every day.
As she continues her studies in the Art and Design department at Texas State University, and teaching art at a local high school, she constantly sees the need for (and functionality of) art in all aspects of life because art is the universal language.
